Your Son, he is acting out, disruptive in school, constantly playing video games, fighting, and needs help.
As concerned parents of young boys and young men, you are in the right place.
Many young men are having significant issues that can continue into adulthood. While therapy can be helpful, it’s a collaborative process that requires the village. The village includes the counselor, the parents, the school, coaches, religions organizations, and other family and friends.
Children and teens are being influenced by overbearing social pressures, social media, and excessive screen time. During developmental periods, isolation (whether due to pandemics or screen time addiction) can have a significant impact on their overall well being.
There is help. I see it as my duty to help this next generation.
Whats behind the defiance?
He is a good kid, but there are likely a couple things that are going on. First, he is easily distracted in class or is bored. Second, he wants to either be seen, so he acts out or seeks attention or he isolates himself, often not able to connect well with others.
He doesn’t want to be a defiant kid, he wants to be seen and empathized with. And as his parent, that’s all you want to do, but his behaviors push you away and frustrate you. You are doing all that you can and yet it feels like it’s not enough. My goal is to help your son process and make sense of all of his big feelings so that he can be more of himself.
